Geez how are we going to fix this?

In today’s Vancouver Sun in a column from Colin Brown entitled “Auto Insurance: Is the public interest being protected” I found the following:

Over the years British Columbia has created a far-flung empire of state monopolies with vast power to influence our lives…

A state monopoly not answerable to the marketplace must be answerable to government regulators whose job is to ensure that it pursues the public interest and not simply its own bureaucratic interests.

I think Friedrich Hayek warned us about this back in the 60’s.
